“Give me liberty AND give me death!” That’s the motto of Hauntington’s town father, Bartholomew Hauntswell. A true pioneer spirit, he’s admired for his upright character and grave demeanor. This larger-than-afterlife hero forged a community dedicated to liberty and the persuit of creepiness. Now, nearly two hundred years later, he still advises the town council and presides over the annual Spirit Fest every Halloween.
