Joe Montana’s goal was to play professional sports. After playing basketball and football at Ringgold High in western Pennsylvania – he was considered the best high school quarterback in the nation! – he accepted a scholarship to Notre Dame. Wearing Number “3”, Montana played three seasons and led the Fighting Irish to two national championships (1977 and 1978 seasons). His last-minute come-from-behind victories earned him the nickname “the Comeback Kid.” He was on his way to the pro career of his dreams.
