Description
Celebrate the 35th anniversary of the first American-manned spaceflight. This unique light-and-sound ornament introduces a Collector’s Series designed to commemorate significant milestones in the U.S. space program.
Remember – or imagine – the suspense when Freedom 7 was launched on May 5, 1961. The world was asking: Is spaceflight possible?” and “Is it safe?”
You’ll hear an actual countdown from NASA’s Mission Control Center in Houston, plus authentic sounds of the rocket’s ignition.
To start the countdown, press the “Launch” button on the top of the base. You’ll hear the words “5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 … We have ignition — and liftoff!” The sound will activate flickering lights to simulate ignition. The message will play one time and stop automatically.
First in the Journeys Into Space Series.
Plug the ornament into any light bulb socket on a standard miniature tree light system.
