Description
This 1995 Hallmark ornament depicts Captain James T Kirk (James Tiberius Kirk), as played by actor William Shatner, sitting in his famous Captain’s chair – although numerous collectors have jokingly commented that it looks more like Kirk is sitting “on the throne.” Kirk commanded the Constitution-class U.S.S. Enterprise through three seasons of Star Trek (79 episodes) on television, beginning in 1966, and appeared in seven feature films from 1979 (Star Trek – The Motion Picture) through 1994 (Star Trek: Generations). Captain Kirk had once attained the rank of admiral, but was demoted back to the rank of captain (in Star Trek IV) for violating orders from Starfleet Command. Kirk, born on a farm in Iowa, is probably most well-known for his famous line in Star Trek II – The Wrath of Khan, when he screamed at the top of his lungs “KKHHHAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNN!” when his nemesis, Khan, had marooned him on Seti Aplha V. He commanded the U.S.S. Enterprise 1701, as well as the U.S.S. Enterprise 1701-A. He also made a very brief appearance on the U.S.S. Enterprise B in the movie Star Trek Generations.
